SOMERSET, N.J. -- The Northeast Conference announced on Wednesday morning during the NEC Women's Basketball Media Day that grad student Madison Stanley is a member of the 2021-22 Preseason All-NEC Women's Basketball Team.
Stanley's naming to the Preseason All-NEC comes as recognition of the outstanding career, and stellar most recent season, she has had with the Knights. Stanley earned a nod to the All-NEC First Team during the 2020-21 season, which was her first postseason accolade as a collegiate player.
During her senior season, Stanley led the Knights in points per game with 13.5, which was good for sixth in the conference. Among players in the NEC that made at least five field goals per game, Stanley led the way in field goal percentage at 48.4%. She also led the team in rebounds per game by tallying 6.0 per game, which was good for 13th in the NEC.
Stanley logged double-figure point totals in 18 of the 22 games she appeared in during the season, matching a Knights record for most games in a row with at least ten points scored (14). Of those 18 games, nine of them saw Stanley score 15 or more points, with the capper being a 22-point outing against NJIT on 12/12/20, in which she matched her career-high in points while going 9-for-11 from the field.
Not merely a key figure as a scorer for the Knights, Stanley also logged three double-doubles, including one in which she set a career-high in rebounds, with 13 boards to go along with 18 points against LIU on 2/4/21. Stanley also ranked sixth in the NEC in blocks per game with 1.6 per contest, and her versatility is also emphasized by her 52 assists over the season, which was good for third on the Knights.
Stanley will be helping to lead a Knights team predicted to finish fifth in the conference, having gone to back-to-back NEC Tournament semifinals. Mount St. Mary's was named the unanimous number one in the conference, followed by Wagner, Saint Francis U (Pa.), and Sacred Heart, before FDU. Rounding out the list are St. Francis Brooklyn, Bryant, Merrimack, LIU, and Central Connecticut State. Click here to view the full release.
The Knights take the floor for the first time this season on Wednesday, November 10, at 7 p.m., when they venture to Queens to take on St. John's.
