NEW YORK, N.Y. – Fairleigh Dickinson incoming freshman Chloe Wilson earned the Girls Basketball Wingate Award, which is awarded to the top senior female basketball student-athlete from the Public School Athletic League (PSAL) in New York City.

The PSAL Wingate Award recognizes the most outstanding senior student-athletes in their particular sport from New York City Public Hih Schools. Wilson was nominated by coaches, commissioners, and sports coordinators in the New York area.

"We are very proud of Chloe's recognition as one of the top girls basketball players in New York City," said head coach Angelika Szumilo. "This prestigious award sums up Chloe's accomplishments both individually and as a team."

The Freeport, N.Y. native helped guide South Shore High School to back-to-back city championships in her sophomore and junior seasons. As a senior, Wilson led the Vikings to earn the No. 1 seed in the Girls AA State Tournament with a 22-2 record and were scheduled to play in the PSAL City Championship before COVID-19 ended the season. Wilson averaged a double-double as a senior with 13 points and 10 rebounds per contest.

In the 2019 PSAL AA Championship Game, the forward recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Off the court, Wilson was an honor roll student and was a member of the National High School Honor Society.

The forward is the fourth member of the South Shore High School team to earn the Wingate Award. The previous winners from South Shore include Brianna Fraser, Earlette Scott, and Tsa Corbie, who all went on to play at the collegiate level.

"We are excited for Chloe to start her basketball career in an FDU uniform and continue to display her work ethic, dedication to excellence in the classroom, on the court, and in the community."

Wilson will join freshmen Abby Conklin, Taylor Crystian, and Devyn Scott for their first seasons at FDU in the 2020-21 campaign.
