Members of the 2010 Bowling Team Reflect on National Championship 10 Years Later

Hackensack, N.J. - Members from from the 2010 women's bowling national championship team reunited for a special 10-year anniversary show. The program featured the five starters from the 2010 NCAA National Championship match against Nebraska as well as assistant coach Lisa Meadows '06 and head coach Mike LoPresti. The former Knights included: Joely Carrillo '12, Tracy Ganjoin '11, Sara Litteral '11, Danielle McEwan '13, and Erica Perez '10. The reunion brought back a lot of memories as the group reflected on the athletic achievement for them personally and for the FDU Athletic Department, winning the second NCAA bowling national championship in FDU history.



When asked to reflect upon what the 2010 season, Litteral explained, "You know, it wasn't just bowling. I mean, bowling obviously was a huge part of it. But you know, for me, I met people that I'm still a part of my life now. And if it wasn't for FDU and coach and everybody, I wouldn't be the person that I am today; nurse practitioner now, so it wasn't just bowling, it was everything FDU gave me."

The show touched on the highs and lows of a national championship match that went the distance in the best-of-seven Baker Format. The Knights would go on to win a pivotal game 6 after falling behind 3 games to 2 against the defending national champion Huskers. The former student-athletes and coaches watched the second half of game 6 and all of game 7 together remembering key moments of the match that proved decisive for the Knights.

  • Danielle McEwan was named Most Outstanding Player and earned All-Tournament team selection of the NCAA Championship
  • Erica Perez was named to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament team
  • Team was honored at the White House by President Barack Obama
  • The win ranked 35th on the NCAA women's championships top moments celebrating the 45th Anniversary of Title IX
  • National Championship attendance of 1,236 ranks 3rd in NCAA Bowling Championship history
  • Mike LoPresti won his 2nd NCAA National Championship as a the head coach of the Knights
