The USFCA has introduced the addition of All-Region awards along with its annual All-American honorees. These awards are determined based on result and field size at each of the NCAA Regional Competitions.
"This is yet another remarkable accomplishment from an athlete who basically rewrote the record books at FDU," said head coach Dan Bass. "In a season with such a tumultuous ending, I'm proud that she was able to be recognized once again as one of the best in her sport."
The Bloomfield, N.J. native adds to her list of career awards that also includes four consecutive NCAA Regional appearances while earning multiple All-American honors in the process, cementing her legacy as one of FDU's most successful fencers in history.
"Natalia's Second Team All-Region honors by the USFCA is another one of many accolades she has achieved," assistant coach
Alex Delaney said. "It has been an honor and a privilege to be a part of her historic journey."
The senior placed sixth overall in this year's regional event, compiling 16 individual wins among a highly competitive pool of fencers and some of the top programs in the nation. Although just missing the cut for a school-record fourth-straight NCAA Championship appearance, Toby tallied yet another impressive season throughout her senior campaign.
In total, Toby captured 111 individual bouts this season, including a perfect 19-0 outing on November 10 during the Vassar Invitational.
"Natalia is truly irreplaceable, not only because of her ability to win for our program, but for the energy, positivity and determination she exudes and passes onto her teammates," added Bass. "I know that she will continue to accomplish great success in her life as she moves forward from a remarkable collegiate career."
As the lone senior, Toby leaves behind a young team that is bound for success in the coming seasons.
