BOSTON, Mass. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's track and field team will be competing in the IC4A/ECAC Championships on Saturday and Sunday at Boston University.
Saturday's action will start at 9 a.m. at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center. Sunday will be the final day of the meet and will also begin at 9 a.m.
Last season at the IC4A/ECAC Championships, junior
Yourry Tapande Ngombe set the program record in the 400 meter event with a time of 47.40.
FDU junior
Sandley Elysee will compete in the 500 meter event and 4x400 meter relay, the two events he earned the gold medal in at the NEC Championships. His PR in the 500 meter dash was set at the NECs as he posted a mark of 1:02.91, which ranks best among all NEC performers. Elysee finished 15th in the 2019 IC4A/ECAC Preliminaries in the 500 meter event.
Joining Elysee in the 500 meter dash will be teammates sophomore
Duran Crooks and freshman
Conroy Ellis. Crooks earned the silver medal at the NEC Championships and set a PR with a time of 1:03.50. Ellis also recorded a PR and placed fourth overall with a 1:04.01 mark.
FDU junior
Keion Oglesby will compete in the 400 meter and 4x400 meter relay. Oglesby was also a member of the Knights 4x400 meter relay team that set an NEC Championship record with a 3:14.71. The junior also earned a bronze medal at the NEC's with a time of 1:02.91 in the 400 meter event, which places him third in the league.
Knight sophomore
Ako Hislop also qualified for the IC4A/ECAC's in the 60 meter and 200 meter events. Hislop posted PRs in the 60 and 200 meter dashes with times of 6.92 (60) and 21.69 (200) at the NEC Championships. The sophomore earned a bronze medal in the 60 meter dash and ranks sixth in the conference. In the 200 meter event, Hislop ranks fifth in the NEC.
In the throws, sophomore
Ben Clay III qualified in both the weight throw and shot put events. Clay III owns the program record in the weight throw and ranks second in the conference with a mark of 17.89 meters at the Penn 8-Team Select. The sophomore also ranks second in the shot put event with a 16.23 meter toss at the Angry Birds Challenge.
The IC4A/ECAC Championships are the last chance for the Knights to have athletes qualify for the NCAA Championships on March 13 and 14 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
