Men's Soccer Announces 2019 Recruiting Class

TEANECK, N.J. – Head coach Seth Roland and the Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer program announced the 13 members of the 2019 recruiting class Friday afternoon.
 
The 13 incoming student-athletes include eight players from New Jersey, players from two additional states and three international prospects. Added to the program's roster for the 2019 season are Ville Ahola, Alonso Arrieta Roldan, Jared Dillon, Julian Gibson, Janbi Kaghado, Spencer King, Peter Kozlej, Nardi Lita, Sebi Morrello, Andres Perez-Santalla, Jonathan Santos, Jared Subarsky and Kaskile Zawadi.
 
The Knights have 16 returners coming back for the 2019 season, forming a combined roster of 29 heading into the 65th season in program history and the 23rd season under Roland's guidance.

Ville Ahola, an attacking midfielder from Jarvenpaa, Finland, played both centrally and wide for Jarvenpaan Palloseura SC, where he appeared in 62 matches over the past three years in the Finnish Second Division. Ahola scored five goals and dished out 11 assists in 21 games last season, as his team finished in second place.
 
"Ville is a fluid attacking player with the skill and experience to break down opposing defenses with a final pass, or on the dribble in and around the penalty area," said Coach Roland.

Alonso Arrieta Roldan, a center midfielder from San Jose, Costa Rica, played for Anglo American High School and club for Futbol Consultants FC. A team captain for the past three years at Anglo American, he led his team in assists in both 2017 and 2018 and was the top goal scorer and team MVP in the 2017 season when Anglo American won the National Championship of private high schools. His club team, with Arrieta Roldan on the field, made the semifinals of the Liacse National Championship in back-to-back seasons as well, including a runner-up finish in the u17 division in 2017.
 
"Alonso is a technical left-footed player whose skill can get him out of tight spaces," said Coach Roland. "He's good in possession and has a very good engine."

Jared Dillon, a four-year varsity starter at forward for Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, is a 2018 NSCAA High School All-American and two-time All-Region and All-State selection (2017 and 2018). His 2018 accolades also include Philadelphia Catholic League MVP and Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Association Player of the Year honors. A two-year team captain, Dillon scored 58 goals and tallied 36 assists in his high school career. He plays club soccer for Lower Merion SC, helping his team to win six Indoor State Cup titles, two outdoor State Cup title, a USYS Regional Championship followed by a USYS National appearance, along with an ODP tournament and regional championship.
 
"Jared has Division I size to accompany his outstanding mobility, skill, passing ability and dangerous instincts around goal," said Coach Roland. "He is a handful for opposing defenders to deal with."

Julian Gibson, a left back and midfielder, is from nearby Jersey City, N.J., and played for Saint Peter's Prep High School as well as the Cedar Stars Academy Monmouth. Gibson has played with Cedar Stars in the US Soccer Development Academy since the U14 level as a left back and left midfielder. He has competed in several national USDA showcases.
 
"Julian can play anywhere on the left side in defense or attack, and can get forward quickly with his speed," said Coach Roland. "Additionally, his crossing ability is impressive."

Janbi Kaghado, a forward from Hawthorne, N.J., lettered for Hawthorne High school and played for World Class SC on the club circuit. Kaghado is a two-time all-state, all-county and all-league honoree, including earning Third Team All-State, First Team All-County and First Team All-League in his senior year. He also played in the US Development Academy during the 2015-16 season.
 
"I was impressed with Janbi's energy, work ethic and desire to succeed," said Coach Roland. "He's versatile enough to play anywhere across the front line."

Spencer King, a goalkeeper from Arnprior, Ontario, has been the starting goalkeeper for the Toronto FC Development Academy team that recently qualified for the USSDA Playoffs. He allowed only one goal in the Generation Adidas Cup while his team was grouped with Real Madrid, River Plate and Frankfurt SC, and he started in goal during his team's competitions in the Dallas Cup against Arsenal and CF Monterrey.
 
"Spencer has all the tools, physically and technically, to become an outstanding Division I goalkeeper having started virtually every game for Toronto FC's playoff bound U19 development academy team," said Coach Roland.

Peter Kozlej, a midfielder from Toms River, N.J., was the MVP of his Toms River East High School team this past season while also earning first team all-county and first team all-division honors. Kozlej was recognized as one of the top three senior players in Monmouth County and one of the top 60 in the state of New Jersey. Kozlej was also selected to play in the NJ State Senior All-Star Game and the Shore Conference All-Star game, while playing club soccer for the Millstone Eagles.
 
"Peter is a creative midfielder who is technical and comfortable on the ball with both feet," said Coach Roland. "A good connector in the midfield with great vision and range, he can be pretty dangerous on free kicks, as well."

Nardi Lita, a forward from Park Ridge, N.J., holds the all-time and single-season scoring records at nearby Park Ridge High School. Lita led his Park Ridge team to their first conference title in 25 years this past season, and in each of the last two years has earned conference MVP honors along with all-state and all-county accolades. He played for the NJODP team his freshman and sophomore years, and he served as team captain of both his high school and Arsenal Maximus Gunners club team each of the last two years.
 
"Nardi is a relentless and quick attacker who can beat defenders one-on-one and is confident in his ability to score goals," said Coach Roland.

Sebi Morrello, a center midfielder from North Caldwell, N.J., earned First Team All-Conference Liberty Division and Third Team All-Essex County honors while playing for West Essex High School. He also earned Group 3 Honorable Mention and was awarded his high school's Coach's Award. Morrello competed for TSF Academy on the club circuit.
 
"Sebi is a technical center midfielder with composure and good vision who will help solidify us in possession," said Coach Roland.

Andres Perez-Santalla, a goalkeeper from Mountainside, N.J., was a three-year varsity starter for Governor Livingston High School. He helped lead the Highlanders to two conference championships while earning first team all-conference as a senior and second team all-county as a junior. Perez-Santalla played club soccer for Somerset Futbol Club, and also played games with the NJP ODP 2000 team for one year.
 
"Andres has good tools and size and will come in and work very hard to develop into a solid Division I goalkeeper," said Coach Roland.

Jonathan Santos, a center midfielder from Middletown, N.J., led his Middletown South High School team in assists with 20 while serving as team captain his senior year. Santos earned First Team All-Division A (North) and Second Team All-Shore Conference honors and represented Monmouth County in the NJ State All-Star Game. Santos also was recognized with the Soccer Coaches Association of New Jersey (SCANJ) Coaches Award.
 
"Jonathan is a tough, skillful midfielder who can break up plays defensively, set up teammates, and contribute to the attack," said Coach Roland.

Jared Subarsky, a defender from Livingston, N.J., played for South Kent High School this past year and was named a NEPSAA All-Star while representing South Kent in the Senior All-Star Game as well. Before South Kent, Subarsky played for The Pennington School, helping the team achieve a #4 rank in the Top Drawer Soccer national high school rankings. He was also part of the Pennington squad that won the first NJISAA Prep A Tournament Championship in school history.
 
"J.R. is an aggressive wide defender and fierce competitor who is confident getting forward," said Coach Roland.

Kaskile Sawadi, an outside back from Tuscon, Ariz., will transfer to FDU after playing two years at Pima Community College. He started 41 of his 52 games on defense for both Pima teams that made the Junior College Division I National Semifinals, with his team winning the NJCAA Division I National Championship in 2018. He was named NJCAA All-America Second Team in 2018, starting for a defense that gave up only 17 goals in 28 matches. Before suiting up for Pima, Sawadi was a standout defender for Cholla High School.
 
"Starting at outside back for Pima, the Junior College Division I National Champs, speaks for itself," said Coach Roland. "Kas is a quick and tenacious 1v1 defender, and gets into the attack effortlessly."
