PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - FDU striker
Jeremie Pelade stole the show in the Knights' first road contest of the season, scoring his first two division one goals to push the Knights past La Salle in Philadelphia Monday evening.
Pelade would not take long to get on the board in the match, as just four minutes into the match, Pelade pounced on a loose ball in the box and powered the ball home to give FDU the early advantage. That tally marked the first in his FDU career after he joined the Knights after scoring 14 goals at Mid-America Nazarene a season ago. Captain
Ryan Kopay was credited with the assist on the marker, his first of the season.
The Knights held onto the advantage throughout the first half, out-shooting the Explorers 5-2 in the opening half. FDU had their run of the chances of the half, forcing the La Salle goalkeeper to make two quality saves.
La Salle didn't even wait a minute to open the scoring in the second frame, as the Explorers evened the match, scoring on
Matheus Franca, as he surrendered his first goal against of the season.
When FDU needed an equalizer, the Knights looked to nobody else but Pelade, as he scored his second goal of the match in the 72nd minute to give FDU the late advantage in the match. The Knights would hang onto the lead, as
Matheus Franca stood out in the second stanza, making five saves, turning away a number of Explorer chances.
Along with Pelade,
Luke Ayaz and
Joshua Bartels also recorded multiple shots in the Knights' first win of the year.
FDU will stay on the road, and will head to the capital city of the Empire State next to take on the Albany Great Danes, in the return match from a home game in Teaneck a season ago.
