TEANECK, N.J. - FDU Men's Soccer (2-0-1) used a goal in the second half to get past the Rider Broncs (2-1) on Monday afternoon at Macron Stadium. The Knights got goals from
Luke Ayaz and
Jeremie Pelade in the victory.
The Knights were the first to the scoreboard in the contest as
Luke Ayaz scored his first goal of the season, capping off a perfectly executed passing play from
Joshua Bartels to
Ryan Kopay, then to Ayaz who put it past the Rider goalkeeper.
Rider would equalize later in the first half, as forward Patryk Rojek scored an unassisted goal. The match went into the halftime break tied at one goal a piece.
FDU would be the beneficiary of a Rider penalty in the second half, as
Krystian Nitek was fouled inside the box, giving way to
Jeremie Pelade to capitalize on the penalty kick, which he did, scoring his third goal of the season, giving the Knights the lead in the 58th minute.
The Knights held on in the last third of the game, with the Broncs giving the FDU defense all they could handle, creating several opportunities in the back half of the final frame, but they would be all for not as FDU held on to win the match 2-1.
This win moves the Knights to 2-0-1 on the young season, as FDU grabbed their second win of the season, and their first at Macron Stadium this season. The Knights got multi-shot outings from both the goal scorers in the match, Pelade and Ayaz.
The Knights will stay at home for their next match as FDU will take on Siena at Macron Stadium in a match this Thursday. Kick off is set for 6 p.m.
