NEW CASTLE, Del. – The eighth-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team finished the Northeast Season Ender in second place, going 1-2 on the second day of competition.

The Knights (80-47) began the day with a close loss to sixth-ranked UMES but bounced back with a win over Felician to set up a rematch in the championship final with UMES. The Hawks, however, won the tournament title with a 4-1 victory over the Knights.

Sophomore Jenna Henderson, who led all bowlers with a 248.33 pin average in the traditional game rounds on Saturday, was named the Tournament MVP, and sophomore Amanda Chrzanowski was also named to the All-Tournament team.

FDU started four of the same bowlers in each of their three Baker best four-of-seven playoff matches, including Henderson, Chrzanowski, junior Samantha Hart and sophomore Aimee Sherman. Junior Brianna MacLeod subbed in the first match against UMES and started the final two of the day, while senior Amy Caruso started the first UMES contest.

In the first UMES match, the Knights jumped in front with a 269-165 win in the first game but dropped the second game. FDU then bounced back with wins in the third and fourth frames (236-193 and 214-203), but the Hawks stayed alive by winning the fifth and sixth games to force a decisive seventh frame. The Knights could not match UMES in the final game, dropping a 232-170 game.

The Knights then swept Felician in a 4-0 match, starting with a 220-201 win followed by a 217-155 victory to go up 2-0. The Knights then continued their strong effort with a 209-176 win in the third game and then ended the battle with 257-174 win to seal the match.

In the title round, the Knights fell behind UMES 2-0 but earned one game back with a 228-193 win in the third frame. UMES, however, edged out a 218-215 win in the fourth game and then closed out the match with a 191-185 win in game five to win the title.

This tournament served as the final regular-season tune up before traveling to compete in the Northeast Conference Championships next weekend, beginning Friday, March 22, in Howell, New Jersey.
