WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's track and field team began its season on Saturday afternoon at the Gillis Field House on the campus of Army University in the Crowell Open.

Returning All-NEC Second Team member sophomore
Ben Clay III shattered the school record that was set by Michael Clark (16.69) in 1981. Clay III finished fourth overall and broke the program record in the weight throw with his toss of 17.75 meters. His previous PR was 15.71 in which he set at the NEC Indoor Championship last season. Clay III recorded his best throw on his first throw of the weight throw final. He qualified for the IC4A's with his result.
Mullings made his collegiate debut and set a PR in the weight throw with a 14.42 meter throw, which placed ninth overall. The freshman qualified for the final with his final throw of the preliminaries, which was a 14.40. Mullings improved the throw by 0.02 meters in the final.
Gere also recorded a PR in the weight throw with a toss of 14.27 meters on his first throw of the afternoon. He finished 10th overall and set a PR as well.

Abdallah Hammad will be honored on Senior Day.
