TEANECK, N.J. – The world record holder in the hammer throw, Yuriy Sedykh visited Fairleigh Dickinson University on Friday and spoke to the track & field members in the Rothman Center.
"It was great for the world record holder in the hammer throw to visit campus and interact with our team," said assistant throws coach
Dan Mecca. "I have known Yuriy for over 30 years and it was good to have him come to campus to catch a glimpse of what FDU is all about."
Sedykh (pictured above, second from right) and Mecca will be coaching in a two-day hammer and javelin clinic this weekend in Middletown, N.Y. for high school, collegiate, and professional players and coaches. Tom Petranoff, Thomas Jacob Freeman, and Gwen Berry will be the other coaches in the two day clinic. Petranoff is the former world and American record holder in the javelin event. Freeman was an NCAA champion in the hammer and weight and was an eight time All-American under Mecca. Berry was a member of Team USA in the 2019 Pan American Games and earned a Gold Medal.
The Knights will open the track and field season on Saturday, December 7, at 4 p.m., when they partake in the Wagner Shootout.
