BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - The FDU Men's and Women's Track and Field team were both slated as top five teams in the NEC in the Preseason Outdoor Track and Field Poll, that was released this week.
The FDU Men's Track and Field team was picked as the fourth best team in the conference, the exact spot that the Knights finished in at the NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships last Febuary. The Knights Men's team is set to be led by the fastest man in the NEC,
Xavier Hayletts, who took the gold medal in the Men's 60 meter dash at the Indoor Championships, and will look to replicate the same success in the Men's 100 meter dash in the outdoor season.
The Knights Men's Team will also be led by the highest jumper in the NEC,
Ethan Ruffin. After winning the NEC Indoor High Jump title with a meet record 2.15 meter jump, Ruffin already broke that mark in the outdoor season, where he jumped 2.17 meters to win the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational High Jump crown.
The FDU Women's group is led by the dynamic duo of
Tata Coulibaly and
Laila Davis, as the tandem finished in the top two of the Women's Hammer Throw event in the NEC Indoor Championships, and are already starting to replicate that success in the outdoor season.
Coulibaly took first in the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, with Davis right behind her finishing in third. The Knights will lean on that tandem to score major points for the burgundy and blue all outdoor season long.
The Knights are set to continue their outdoor season with a dual against Saint Peter's at Lincoln Park in Jersey City. The first event is set to begin at 9 a.m.
