Men's Soccer Hosts Lafayette Saturday In Teaneck

TEANECK, N.J. -  The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team returns to action this Saturday, September 15 when they host Lafayette College at University Stadium at 7 p.m.  The game will be available via live stream via NEC Front Row.

The Knights currently hold a 3-2-1 overall record in the 2018 season.

LAST TIME OUT

FDU wrapped up with the second of its two consecutive weekend tournaments last week when they took part in the Peter Baldwin Memorial Classic hosted by the University of Vermont.  Although the Knights started off the weekend with a tough 4-0 loss to a skilled host squad in the Catamounts, they responded in a big way Sunday afternoon, taking down Saint Peter's University 2-1 to finish at 1-1 for the weekend.  Jacob Labovitz and Ahu Obhakhan provided the offense for FDU, with Labovitz scoring his first of the season and earning NEC Player of the Week honors in the process.

ALL TIME SERIES

The Knights are 3-6-0 with six goals scored and 12 conceded all-time against the Leopards, but came away victorious the last time they squared off with one another, earning a 2-0 win at University Stadium in their season opener last season.  The Leopards last win over the Knights came in 2016 when they took down FDU in Teaneck, 1-0.

SCOUTING THE LEOPARDS

Lafayette was tabbed to finish 10 overall in the 2018 Patriot League Coach's Preseason Poll, however despite the low ranking the Leopards still boast an experienced and seasoned squad. Lafayette return seven starters from a year ago including three defenders, and have newcomer Christian Williams a junior transfer from FAU, to fill the fourth spot on the backline. Currently sitting at 4-2 overall, Lafayette is coming off of a 2-0 win over La Salle on Wednesday and is 3-1 in its last four matches.

NEC THREE PEAT

Labovitz made Knights history this week by being named the NEC Player of the Week for his performance in the win over Saint Peter's Sunday afternoon.  It marked the third consecutive week that a member of the Knights was given POTW honors from the NEC, a first in program history.  Labovitz joins Ahu Obhakhan and Daniel Lasarte, who were named winners in week one and two, respectively.
