Box Score FAIRFIELD, CT. – FDU men's soccer (3-0-2, 0-0) drew 1-1 with Sacred Heart (1-2-1, 0-0) on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights have now won or drawn all five matches to start the season. It is the first time the Knights have accomplished such a feat since the 2017 season.
FDU and Sacred Heart could not find any answers on offense to start the match. The two sides combined for 13 shots in the first half, but neither squad could find the back of the net. The Knights rolled out Noah Reuscher in goal following an impressive showing against Siena on September 3. Reuscher saved four shots for the Knights, and kept the Pioneers off the board for much of the game.
The Knights broke the offensive drought late in regulation, when Takuto Nishide scored his first goal of the season. In the 74th minute, Alex Ferenac found Nishide open in the box for a chance. Nishide dropped a chip shot past Pioneer goalie Luca Marinelli, giving FDU a 1-0 lead.
FDU sought to hold on to the lead over the final fifteen minutes of regulation to pick up their fourth straight win. However, in the 85th minute, the Pioneers put together their best chance of the afternoon, and sneaked a goal past Reuscher. Daniel Losfablos scored the equalizer for the home squad.
The Knights finished with 13 shots, four of them coming on goal.
The Knights will play the fourth in a five-game stretch of road matches, as they travel to St. John's on Thursday, September 11. Kick-off in Queens will be at 7 p.m.
