The Knights Came Marching In! Reuscher, Labite, Rabassa Guillamon Power Win Over Siena

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – FDU men's soccer (3-0-1) took down the Siena Saints (1-3-0) by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday evening.

The Knights move to a 3-0-1 start on the season with the win, and move to 2-0 in road contests. "We had high energy, we stuck to the gameplan," head coach Jaymee Highcock said. "The team applied themselves, they dug in and clung on to find a way to win the game."

Highcock turned to Noah Reuscher to tend the goal up in New York. Reuscher made his first career start as a Knight, following his first career appearance at Saint Peter's.

The Knights and Saints battled conservatively in the first half of play. The two teams combined for just one shot on goal in the first half, with the Knights taking the lone chance.

FDU broke a scoreless tie shortly after the halftime break. After a yellow card was issued to Siena's Sean Kelly, the Knights had a set piece just outside the box in the 49th minute. Takuto Nishide sent a beautiful ball inside, where Victor Labite was waiting to head home his first career goal. With Labite's finish, the Knights have scored first in all four of their matches so far this season.

Arnau Rabassa Guillamon joined Labite on the scoresheet in the 53rd minute. The senior made an aggressive play on a ball controlled by Siena goalie Bennet Glinder, and was able to win possession. Rabassa Guillamon had a wide open net, and sent a strike inside to extend the FDU lead to 2-0. The Barcelona, Spain native has now scored in back-to-back contests for the Knights.

Siena got themselves onto the board shortly afterwards in the 57th minute. FDU's Julian Ramirez committed a foul inside the box, awarding a penalty kick to the Saints' Martin Piedeleu. Noah Reuscher made an incredible save on the initial shot, but Piedeleu was able to control the rebound and send it past Reuscher for a goal.

Reuscher was stellar for the Knights in his first start. The Benedictine transfer stopped four shots, including a show-stopping, one-handed save on an equalizer chance late for Siena. Reuscher's lone goal allowed came on the rebounded penalty kick.
