Women's Basketball Closes out Regular Season At Sacred Heart

HACKENSACK, N.J. -  The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's basketball team closes out its regular season schedule Sunday when it heads to Fairfield for a matchup against Sacred Heart Sunday at 1 p.m.  The game will be available via live stream oin NEC Front Row.

QUICK HITTERS

The Knights are coming off of back-to-back home losses against LIU Brooklyn and St. Francis Brooklyn this past weekend, and have dropped four straight as well as six of their last seven games.  The Knights have not lost five consecutive games in a row all season.

Monday against the Terriers was the fourth straight game in which the Knights turned the ball over 20+ times in one game.  Prior to that streak, the Knights had only had consecutive games with 20 or more turnovers once this season, giving up 20 and 23 against Howard and Longwood back in November.

SERIES SCORE

The Knights will have their work cut out for them against the Pioneers on Sunday, as FDU has never defeated Sacred Heart on the road in program history.  The Knights are just 5-28 all-time against Sacred Heart, including an 0-16 record at the Pitt Center.  The Knights did earn the win in their only previous matchup this season against SHU, taking a 69-59 win over the Pioneers at the Rothman Center back on January 20th.

LAST TIME OUT

The Knights dropped a home contest against St. Francis Brooklyn Monday evening to push their overall record to 15-13 and their NEC record to 7-10.  Despite going 6-18 from beyond the arc, their highest three-point output in a game since knocking down seven against St. Francis on January 26th, the Knights once again were undone by costly turnovers and a fast-paced defensive effort on the part of the Terriers.  FDU's 23 giveaways led to 26 St. Francis Brooklyn points, and the Terriers outscored FDU in the paint 26-14 to come away with the win.  Madelynn Comly and Amina Markovic each finished with 11 points.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS

Sacred Heart currently sits at 5th overall in the NEC Conference standings with a 8-9 record in conference play, one spot ahead of the Knights.  The Pioneers boast the third-best scoring offense in the NEC at 62.9 points per game, and are currently riding a two-game win streak.  Despite trailing only Saint Francis U in total number of field goal attempts this season, SHU ranks 8th overall in field goal percentage at .373. The Pioneers will lean heavily on the services of sophomore guard Erin Storck, who leads all the NEC in playing time, averaging 35 minutes of action a night.
