Women's Basketball Plays at Army Wednesday Night

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team continues its five-game road swing with a trip to New York state to take on Army West Point at 7 p.m.

The game will be streamed live for free on the Patriot League Network, and live stats will be provided at goarmywestpoint.com.

ENTERING THE KNIGHT
The Knights (2-5) got off to a slow start and despite a strong second-half effort fell to Colgate, 71-52, on Sunday. FDU shot 7-for-11 from the field and made seven of eight free throws in outscoring the Raiders 23-14 in the third period, but the Raiders made key shots down the stretch to prevent a comeback despite the Knights outscoring the Raiders in the second half. Junior Charee Osborne scored a season-high eight points, going 3-for-4 from the field, and senior Peniel M'Bikata led the Knights with 12 points.

PENNY M'BUCKETS
M'Bikata has scored in double figures in five of her seven games this season and leads the Knights in averaging 11.4 points per game. She also is tops on the team in three-point percentage (.414) and free-throw percentage (.762) and is shooting .419 from the field. M'Bikata has made 12 three-pointers and 16-of-21 free throws this season, and she scored her career high of 19 points earlier this season against Howard.

BLOCK PARTY
The Knights lead the Northeast Conference in blocks per game (4.7) and rank in the top 50 in Division I (41st) in shots blocked per game. Freshman Lindsey Mack, who leads the team with nine blocks (1.3 per game) leads all NEC freshmen in blocks, and sophomore Madison Stanley also averages a block per game, totaling seven this season. FDU has recorded five blocks as a team in each of its last three games and at least five blocks in five of seven games this season.

IMPROVED FREE THROW SHOOTING
After a slow start to the season from the charity stripe, the Knights have steadily improved their free throw shooting in each of the last three games, making at least 15 free throws and 75 percent of their attempts in those games. FDU shot a season-best 88.2 percent (15-for-17) from the charity stripe at Binghamton this past Friday.

CAREER MILESTONE
Senior Madelynn Comly surpassed 800 career points when she made a three-pointer in Sunday's game at Colgate. The senior now has 801 career points in 97 games (8.3 ppg). Comly has a .875 free throw percentage (7-for-8) this season and has made 92-of-111 free throws (.829) over her past 50 games dating back to the 2016-17 season. Comly's 801 career points are the most among active Knights.

THE MARCH TO 500
As a program, the Knights are two wins away (498) from reaching 500. The team has played in a total of 1,169 games since beginning the program in 1977. Over the previous 498 victories, the Knights have won 214 NEC games, and 120 games in Peter Cinella's tenure as head coach. A win against Army would set the Knights up to possibly reach their 500th program victory in their next game on Saturday, December 5, at Stony Brook.

SERIES SCORE
FDU is 5-10 all-time against Army West Point heading into Wednesday night's game. The Knights and Black Knights have played each other every year but one since 2008, and FDU has won two of the past three meetings, including last year's 58-56 win at the Rothman Center. Three Knights scored in double figures in that game, led by Natalie Zamora with 12 points. Lauren Francillon finished with 10 points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench, and Comly added 10 points as well. FDU's is only 1-6 against Army in West Point, however, with the only win happening in the first-ever meeting between the two schools, 52-47 in 1979.

SCOUTING ARMY WEST POINT
The Black Knights (2-5) have lost five of their last six games, including their recent game at TCU by a score of 63-38 on Sunday. Army's two wins this season are against fellow NEC schools (LIU Brooklyn – 57-42 – and St. Francis Brooklyn – 69-57). The Black Knights have only cracked 60 points in a game twice this season but have held teams below 70 points in five of seven games. Senior Madison Hovren leads the Black Knights in points (14.3 ppg), rebounds (10.3 rpg) and steals (1.6 spg) and senior Jess Lewis averages 4.4 assists per game while scoring 9.7 points per game. Army was picked to finish seventh in the Patriot League preseason poll after finishing last season with a 17-14 record (9-9 PL) and losing in the Patriot League semifinals.

AROUND THE NEC
Two other NEC schools are in action Wednesday night, with Saint Francis U hosting Florida Gulf Coast and Central Connecticut State traveling to Albany. Bryant, Mount St. Mary's, LIU Brooklyn and St. Francis Brooklyn all play on the road in the following two days, with Robert Morris hosting Kent State on Friday as well.
