Women's Basketball Hosts First-Place Sacred Heart Monday

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team welcomes first-place Sacred Heart Pioneers on Monday night for a 7 p.m. start in the Rothman Center. 

QUICK HITTERS
•
FDU faces its last first-time opponent this season in Sacred Heart. The Pioneers are the lone NEC team that the Knights have not played so far. 
• For the fifth straight game, FDU had 10 OREB vs Wagner (22). Only did it twice in first six NEC games.  
• A win would even the last six between SHU & FDU at three a side. Each of those two wins prior have been at home. 
• FDU outscored Wagner 18-6 in second chance points. It was the fifth straight game that FDU did that to an opponent. MSM on 1/16 was the last opponent outscore FDU on second-chance opportunities. 

SERIES SCORE
FDU will try to win its third home game against Sacred Heart in the last four contests. The last win for FDU versus SHU prior to the last two wins at home (2014-15, 2013-14) was back in the 2001-02 season, also at home. 

LAST TIME OUT
Fairleigh Dickinson led 4-0 against Wagner but the Seahawks quickly took a 6-4 lead and did not let FDU lead for the rest of the game and won 74-66. The Seahawks scored the first 13 points of the second quarter to build a 13-point lead. The lead would get out to as many as 17 in the third quarter. The Knights would to as close as seven down the stretch but the Seahawks would make nine free throws inside the final minute to get the win. Kiana Brown and Madelynn Comly each had 13 points to lead FDU. Amina Markovic added her fourth double-double of the season -- 11 points, 10 rebounds.  

ABOUT SACRED HEART
The Pioneers come in at 12-10 and 9-2 in the NEC, which puts the Pioneers in a tie for the lead in the NEC with Saint Francis U. Sacred Heart got back in the win column against Bryant on Saturday after falling in its previous game at Mount St. Mary's. FDU made a season-high 20 free throws against Wagner. Previous best was 19 against SFU. The 30 free throw attempts were also the most this season by the Knights.
