STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's track and field team five top 10 finishes at the NYC Gotham Cup on Friday. Those finishes came in the long jump, 4x800 relay, shot put and weight throw.
The Knights also had five student-athletes set new personal bests.
Mark Ramsey owned the highest finish for the men on Friday with a fourth-place showing in the shot put after throwing 16.05m.
Fairleigh Dickinson had multiple top 10s in the weight throw with
Nicholas Todaro finishing in seventh and
Rashaun Graves ending up in 10th. Todaro recorded a mark of 15.00m and Graves set a new personal best with a mark of 14.09m.
The 4x800 relay consisted of
Alexshandro Rodriguez,
Kazeem Otun,
Javuan Grant and
Noah Rotich. The quartet crossed the line in 8:03.51 to finish in fifth. The time is the fastest in the NEC this season.
Sharlanjo Nelson finished in ninth in the long jump. The first-year Knight cleared 6.72m, which is a new personal best. Nelson also competed in the 200m where he finished in a time of 22.58 (21st).
Emmanuel Atiola, 23.72 in the 200m,
Dayron Brown, 9:29.20 in the 3k, and
Noah Rotich, 2:02.56 in the 800m, all set new personal bests as well on Friday.
The men's track and field team is back in action next Friday for the Villanova Open, which like today's meet, will be at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
