HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's track and field team starts the 2016-17 indoor season this weekend with a pair of meets. The Knights start with the Fordham Season Opener on Friday and then host the FDU Knight Classic on Sunday at 9 a.m. inside the Rothman Center.
The 2016-17 schedule for the Knights features 11 events plus the Northeast Conference Championships (Feb 17-18). After those, there are two postseason events (Fastrack Last Chance and the ECAC Championships) prior to the NCAA Indoor Championships, which will be held at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.
The Knights are coming off a fourth-place finish at the Northeast Conference Championships last season.
Seniors,
Mark Ramsey and
Alexshandro Rodriguez return for the Knights after each claiming a conference title last season. Ramsey won the shot put, where he holds the school record at 17.93m, and Rodriguez took first in the 800m. The Knights also won the 4x400 relay and all four members –
Richard Colin,
Kazeem Otun, Alexshanrdo Rodriguez and
Shaquan Williams – all return this season.
Also, returning for the Knights are
Emmanuel Atiola, who took second in the long jump at the NEC Championships last season as well as
Nicholas Todaro, who finished in the points of the weight throw.
