Women's Soccer Drops Road Contest at Stony Brook, 3-0

Box Score

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team could not push their winning streak to three games as the Knights fell 3-0 at Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon.

"We came out flat, turned the ball over a lot and I think we allowed Stony Brook to dictate the game", said head coach Eric Teepe. "We did some good things as a team, but we were not clicking on all cylinders today. We worked hard but not together."

Stony Brook (3-5) got on the board first when Manuela Corcho redirected a cross from Annie Boros in the 20th minute. The cross came in after a shot by Lindsay Hutchinson hit the right post and came out to Boros.

Emily Murrer doubled the Seawolves lead when she beat Felicia Burr (Bellingham, Mass./Blackstone-Millville) high from the right side to the left corner of the goal in the 32nd minute. Rachel Hoekstra (Bowmanville, Ontario/Clarington Central) tried to get the Knights within one right at the halftime horn, but Cara Gallagher was there in the Seawolves' goal to make the save.

Fairleigh Dickinson (3-4) was unable to mount any serious threats in the Stony Brook half to open the second half as they tried to get back into the game.

Raven Edwards added more insurance for the Seawolves when she put home her second of the season to make it 3-0 in the 78th minute. That came after Hoekstra had an opportunity off a header that went over the crossbar that would have cut the Seawolves' lead to 2-1.

The Knights return to action on Friday, September 18 when they host Binghamton at University Stadium at 7 p.m.
