Box Score TEANECK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team swept a doubleheader from Lehigh University on Sunday afternoon at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex.  The Knights improve to 6-6 on the season with the victories.  The Mountain Hawks fall to 3-12 with the losses.
"Somehow we only needed one hit to win that first game," head coach
Gary Puccio said after sweeping the doubleheader.  "The last week or so we have just been finding ways to win.  Getting hits at the right times, stranding runners, making play, all the little things that help you win games.  I honestly think we are starting to come together and if our pitching can keep this up we are going to have a good season."
GAME ONE – FDU 2, Lehigh 1Junior
Joel Roman (East Hartford, Conn./East Hartford) delivered a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning that proved to be the game-winner.  Roman's homer was the only FDU hit of the game, but it came at the right time.  Lehigh had scratched across a run in the top of the seventh, but the Mountain Hawks lead was short lived as the Knights grabbed a 2-1 advantage in the bottom of the frame.
The home run by Roman is his second of the season.
Lehigh managed just three hits in the game and pushed across one unearned run.
Sophomore
Joe Flack (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys) started and pitched four innings allowing just one hit, while striking out four opposing batters.
Junior
Logan Frati (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport/South Manor) entered in relief and pitched four scoreless innings before giving way to senior
Eric Snyder (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) who picked up the save.
Frati limited Lehigh to two hits and two walks, while striking out three.  He earned the victory and improves to 1-1 on the season.  Snyder worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his third save of the season.
Lehigh's Jayme Edwards carried a no-hit bid into the seventh, before surrendering the home run to Roman.  He falls to 0-1 with the loss.
GAME TWO – FDU 4, Lehigh 3Junior
Ryan McGrath (Lansingburgh, N.Y./Lansingburgh) allowed three runs in the first inning, but rebounded to post five scoreless frames and earn his third victory of the season in the game two.  McGrath allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits and a walk in the game.  He struck out five batters and really settled in after the first inning.
Meanwhile, the FDU offense chipped away with senior
Shane Siebler (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) singling home
Chris Grupp (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands College Park) in the second inning and McClure driving in
Dylan Sprague (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park) with a double in the third.
FDU picked up its final two runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth.  Freshman
Justin Sportman (Schenectady, N.Y./La Salle Institue) scored from third after an errant pickoff throw went down the right field line and then - with one out - Sprague drove in sophomore
Matt McCann (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro ) from third with a sacrifice fly to centerfield.
Snyder again closed out the game pitching a scoreless seventh.  He struck out two batters on the way to his fourth save of the season and second of the day.
Sprague went two-for-two in the second game and drove in a run.  He was the only FDU player to finish with two hits.  As a team, FDU collected seven hits, while limiting Lehigh to five.
McGrath improves to 3-1 on the season with the victory.  Kevin Boswick falls to 1-2 with the loss.
The Knights return to action on Wednesday at Monmouth and Thursday at NYIT.  FDU will then play a three game series against Seton Hall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  The Friday and Sunday games will be played at Seton Hall with the Saturday game played at the Naimoli Complex.
