HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team (9-17, 6-9 NEC) is hoping to maintain momentum in the race for a 2015 Northeast Conference Tournament spot after two straight road victories over the weekend when it travels up to Sacred Heart (14-11, 9-6 NEC) for a rare Wednesday night conference clash on Feb. 25. Tipoff from the Pitt Center is slated for 7 p.m.

Last Time Out
Standout junior guard Kelsey Cruz (Chester, Va./Lloyd C. Bird) was standing on 999 career points with her team down 57-56 with 90 seconds to go on Monday night at St. Francis Brooklyn. Cruz drove left, go to the left elbow, and drained the eventual game winner with 1:24 to play, simultaneously crossing the 1,000 career point threshold. The bucket capped off a dominant second half in which the Virginia native scored 19 points on an efficient 6-of-10 from the field after finishing the first period with just two points. She is the 17th member of the 1,000 point club in FDU history. The win made it two in a row for the Knights after Saturday evening's buzzer-beating win at Mount St. Mary's, thanks to Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area)'s putback at the death. The two road wins have been vital in FDU's quest to return to the NEC Tournament.

2014 Season: 14-11 (9-6 NEC)
Where: Fairfield, Conn. (Pitt Center)
When: February 25, 2015 – 7:00 p.m.
Series History: The Pioneers hold a 24-2 advantage since 1997
Last Meeting: March 3, 2014 – FDU 75 SHU 69 in Hackensack, N.J.
What You Need To Know:  The Pioneers have already clinched a postseason berth and currently are in line to host their first round contest as they sit in fourth. This is the 16th straight season in which Sacred Heart has made the NEC Tournament, every year since they entered the league. Junior guard Hannah Kimmel paces her team with 16.6 points (on 42% shooting) and 8.8 rebounds per contest. She's joined by preseason All-NEC selection Gabrielle Washington and Adaysha Williams, who average 13.0 and 11.8 points per game, respectively. The Pioneers last lost at home in their second conference game this year against Central Connecticut State. In total, they are 8-3 at the Pitt Center this year, and are a perfect 13-0 against FDU in Fairfield since 1997. The Knights, however, have more wins on the road this season than at home.

Five teams have clinched postseason berths, including St. Francis Brooklyn despite losing on Monday night to the Knights. FDU is the top school that has not clinched and has a game in hand along with Sacred Heart. LIU Brooklyn, who also went 2-0 over the weekend, sit half a game behind the knights, followed by Mount St. Mary's, losers of eight straight, in the eight spot and both Wagner and Saint Francis University at 4-12 tied for ninth.

Up Next
The Knights finish out their regular season with two home games this coming weekend. Saturday, Feb. 28, sees Central Connecticut State visit Hackensack, with a 2 p.m. tip, followed by senior night on Monday evening against Sacred Heart.
