W. Fencing Returns to Action on Sunday at Philadelphia Invitational

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's fencing team (3-4) heads to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete at the Philadelphia Invitational, hosted by Temple, on Sunday. The event takes place at Coach Dave Micahnik Fencing Center and features three of the top 10 teams in the nation. Competition is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m.

The Knights will have matches against Haverford, NJIT, Temple, North Carolina and Sacred Heart. 

FDU last saw action in the NIWFA Christmas Invitational on Dec. 8. Redshirt sophomore Nadine Abdelaziz (Bayonne, N.J./) was the top finisher on the team, earning a silver medal in the foil. Also competing in foil was freshman Jill Habersaat, who finished ninth. Junior Kathryn Heaney (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) was fifth in the sabre, and junior Tanya Rivera (Union City, N.J./Union City) was the top FDU finisher in epee, completing the event in ninth. 

The next event for the Knights is the Northwestern Duals in Evanston, Ill. on Feb. 1-2.
