M.Indoor T&F Concludes NYC Gotham Cup in Eighth Place

NEW YORK -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's indoor track and field team competed at the NYC Gotham Cup, hosted by NYU, on Friday, Jan. 10 at the New Balance Track and Field Center. The Knights compiled 29 points en route to an eighth-place finish in the 13-team event.

Jared Hanko (Montville, N.J./Trinity Christian School)'s seventh-place finish in the 1000 meter run produced six points for FDU. The graduate student finished in 2:29:59, which was better than 40 other competitors.

Also collecting six points for the Knights was sophomore Jenya Dyagilev (Almaty, Kazakhstan/Fort Lee, N.J.), who qualfied for the IC4A in the 500 meter run after finishing eight overall (out of 65) with a time of 1:05.01.

In the one-mile run sophomore Darrel Gooding (Somerset, N.J./Franklin Township) crossed the finish line in 11th place (out of 60) in 4:21:89 to pick up one point.

A pair of relay teams also picked up six points for the Knights: the 4x400 completed the 29-team in seventh place with a time of 3:21:34; the 4000 meter distance medley placed third (out of 13), finishing in 10:29:0

Sophomore Mohamed Cisse (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo) contributed four points with a 13th-place finish (out of 73) in the 400 meter dash to round out the running events.

In the field sophomore Jalen Harris (Edison, N.J./Edison) scored a point after jumping 6.54 meters in the long jump, while freshman Rashaun Graves (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) tossed the weight throw 11.67 meters.

FDU will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 18 when it participates in the NYU Saturday Night Shootout.
