Box Score

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's basketball team wiped away a 16-point deficit to defeat Quinnipiac, 74-65, Monday, Feb. 6 at Stratis Arena in Hackensack, NJ.  With the win, the Knights improve to 11-13 on the season with an even 6-6 mark in Northeast Conference play.  The Bobcats fall to 17-6 on the season with a 9-3 record in conference.

After trailing by 16 points to start the second half, the Knights out-scored Quinnipiac, 23-5 during a span of ten minutes.  The run enabled FDU to tie the game at 47 with nine minutes left to play.

Danielle Pankey (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South)'s 18 second-half points helped FDU to a 50-27 advantage in the second half.  The Knights went 7-for-7 from the free-throw line in the final minute of play to secure the win, 74-65.

The Bobcats capitalized on FDU turnovers early in the game, taking a ten point lead just four minutes into play.  The Knights responded with an eight-point run to cut the Bobcat's advantage but could not maintain their momentum.

Quinnipiac extended the lead to 14 points, with a score of 24-38 at the break.  The Knights were out-rebounded, 16-24 in the first 20 minutes, while giving up 23 points on 15 miscues.

A layup by freshman Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) sparked ten-unanswered points for FDU to begin the second half.  Seven points in three minutes from Pankey cut the Bobcat lead to just five points with 12 minutes on the clock.

Midway through the half, Pankey drove to the basket and was fouled on the made layup.  The traditional three-point play brought the Knights within two points.  Just 20 seconds later, Livermore received a pass from Amanda Andrades (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) who had forced a QU turnover.  Livermore tied the game at 45 on a shot from inside the paint.

A seven-point run gave FDU their first lead of the half, 56-49, with five minutes left to play.

The Knights held QU to 25 percent from the field in the second half, and scored 16 points on 15 Bobcat turnovers.

In addition to senior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange)'s ten points in the final five minutes, FDU went 14-for-20 from the charity stripe as time wound down, securing a 75-64 win.  The win snapped Quinnipiac's seven-game win streak.

Livermore led all scorers with 23 points on 8-of-13 field goals.  The freshman also went 7-for-11 from the free-throw line and led all players on the glass with 14 rebounds to record her fourth double-double of the season.  Pankey added 18 points for FDU, all coming in the second half, while Laury chipped in 17 points in just 19 minutes.  Senior Esther Wallace (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) had a big day on defense with seven defensive rebounds and a season-high five blocks.

The Knights had a stellar second half on the glass, out-rebounding QU, 32-14 in the final 20 minutes.  The final result favored FDU, with 48 rebounds to 38.

Head Coach Pete Cinella complimented Livermore, Pankey and Laury for their outstanding effort against a top-ranked Quinnipiac team.  Andrades also played a significant role in the win with eight points and five assists.

The Knights will travel to Monmouth University on Saturday, Feb. 11 for a double-header.  The 3:00 pm tip-off is part of the NEC's Rivalry Weekend.
