W. Fencing Preps for Sacred Heart Invitational


HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's fencing team will compete for the second time this season on Sunday, Nov. 11, when the Knights travel to Fairfield, Conn. for the Sacred Heart Invitational.
 
This year's field includes the host Sacred Heart, as well as Steven Institute of Technology, Haverford, Hunter, Yeshiva, Cornell and CCNY. Sacred Heart, Stevens Tech and Cornell all received votes in the final CollegeFencing360.com Women's Coaches' Poll from last season.
 
In their first action of the season at the Temple Open in Philadelphia, Pa. on Oct. 27, FDU junior sabreist Hanna Heldenmuth (Miami, Fla./Keystone National) had a strong showing with her 11th place finish to lead the squad. At the event, FDU also received top 20 finishes from sophomore Kathryn Heaney (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) (19th) and senior Sophia Bischof (Bonn, Germany/Albert Einstein Gymnasium) (20th) in sabre as well as senior Christine Forsythe (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) (17th) in epee and sophomore Alix Lerch (Puebla, Puebla, Mexico/Instituto Oriente) (18th) in foil.  
 
After this weekend, the Knights will return home for the Fairleigh Dickinson Invitational, which will be held at Stratis Arena in Hackensack, N.J. on Friday, Nov. 30. In FDU's lone home event of the season, the action will get underway at 6 p.m.
