W. Basketball to Conclude Home Stand with Tilt Against Robert Morris

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's basketball team will look to get back to its winning ways when they host Robert Morris, Monday, Jan. 23 at Stratis Arena.  Tip-off is slated for 7:00 pm.

FDU is 9-10 on the year with a 4-3 mark in Northeast Conference action.  They will try to begin a new win streak as they host RMU.

The Knights have won four of their last five games, but most recently lost a two-point game to Saint Francis PA.  After trailing by 10 with five minutes to play, the Knights chipped away at the Red Flash lead on Saturday at Stratis Arena.  Freshman Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) cut the deficit to two points on a layup with nine seconds to play.

Danielle Pankey (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South) grabbed a defensive rebound in the final seconds, giving the Knights the last possession of the game.  The Knights missed a chance to take the win on a three-point shot at the buzzer.

Livermore and Pankey led the team with 18 and 17 points, respectively.  Livermore is currently averaging 9.7 points per game with 6.7 rebounds, while Pankey and senior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange) score double-points with 10.9 and 16.6 points per game.

As a team the Knights are currently averaging 58.3 points per game, just 4.3 points fewer than their opponents.  They have grabbed 40.3 rebounds a contest, 0.9 more than their opponents.  In Saturday's contest, the Knights out-rebounded the Red Flash, 42-33.

The Colonials of Robert Morris are riding a four-game losing streak, including a 66-75 loss at Monmouth on Saturday.  RMU is 9-9 on the season with a 3-4 mark in conference play.

RMU is currently averaging 67 points per game, 3.3 points greater than their opponents.  They are shooting .389 from the field and bringing down 42.3 rebounds per game.

The Colonials boast four players who are averaging over ten points per game.  2011 NEC Rookie of the Year, Artemis Spanou leads the team with 15.4 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, while Mary Durojaye adds 13.1 and 9.0 rebounds per game.  April Williams and Briannica Tye average 12.3 and 11.7, respectively.

Robert Morris holds the advantage, 30-21 in the all-time series.  In games dating back to 1985, the Colonials have won 18 of 25 games at home but are 11-13 at Stratis Arena.

In their last meeting the Colonials defeated FDU, 50-79 in Moon Twp., PA.  Pankey and sophomore Desiree Crawford (Aurora, Ontario/Cardinal Carter Catholic) led the Knights with 11 points each, while the Colonials had five double-digit scorers.

During the 2010-11 season, the Colonials and Knights split the pair of scheduled games.  Each team won on their home court, with the Knights earning a 79-76 victory on February 21.

The Knights will travel to New England next weekend to face Central Connecticut State and Bryant University
