The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team (12-12, 5-8 NEC) will be looking to split the Garden State Rivalry Series with Monmouth when they face each other again on Monday, February 14. The match up, which is the second meeting of the two teams in three days, concludes Northeast Conference Rivalry Week.
Saturday's NEC contest between the Hawks and the Knights saw seven lead changes and six double-figure scorers. The Knights has an excellent game statistically, out-shooting the Hawks 38 percent (19-for-50) to 35.7 percent (20-for-56) and out-rebounding them 38 to 37, but were unable to take the lead in the final minutes of the game.
The Knights' scoring effort was led by 14 points from senior Alyssa Mayrose (Freehold, NJ/Freehold). Mayrose also grabbed nine rebounds and had two blocks. Junior Esther Wallace (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange) added 13 points for the Knights, while redshirt freshman Danielle Pankey (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South) also had 10.
This will be the 68th meeting of the Hawks and the Knights since 1977. Monmouth holds the advantage, having won 45 contests and dropping 22. The Knights' last win came on December 8, 2008 in a 76-64 decision.
