Women's Basketball To Host Quinnipiac, Looks to Grab 10th Win

The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team (9-5, 2-1 NEC) will be looking to rebound from the loss against Sacred Heart as they host Quinnipiac in the last of a three-game home stand on Monday, January 10.  The Knights will attempt to improve their 2-1 NEC record in a 7:00 game at Stratis Arena in Hackensack, NJ.

The Knights are coming off of a tough loss to NEC foe Sacred Heart on Friday January 7.  The loss from the Pioneers ended the Knights' six-game win streak that dated back to December 6.  In the 65-39 defeat, FDU was led by junior Jasmyra Saunders (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Catholic) who had nine points and three rebounds.  Junior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange) added eight points for the Knights and grabbed a season-high five rebounds in the game.  Laury also had one assist and a season-high four steals.

Quinnipiac comes into the game with a 6-8 record overall and a perfect 3-0 record in the NEC.  The Bobcats are fresh off a win over the Garden State NEC team, Monmouth.  QU defeated Monmouth on Friday, January 7, 60-57.

This will be the 24th meeting of the Knights and the Bobcats since 1998. The Bobcats hold the advantage in the series having won 20 of 23 previous contests. The last FDU win was on January 3, 2009 where the Knights defeated QU, 80-66. Last season the Bobcats took wins in both match-ups.

After hosting Quinnipiac, the Knights will hit the road for four consecutive away contests.  The Knights will face St. Francis PA on Saturday, January 15 before taking on Robert Morris on the 17th.  The following weekend FDU will travel to Central Conn. St. and Bryant for re-matches of the Knights' two December conference games.
