The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's and women's basketball teams host a conference doubleheader in the Rothman Center on Saturday, Feb. 11. The women will take the floor first at 4:00 p.m., while the men's team is slated to face off against Mount St. Mary's at 7:30 p.m.
The men's basketball program will be hosting its' Alumni Day, with an alumni game scheduled to begin at 5:45 p.m. The Knights will also be honoring the 1984-85 team.
The women's team (6-14, 3-9 NEC) enters the game against Mount St. Mary's after going 2-2 in their last four conference contests, including two road victories. The Knights bested St. Francis (PA), 75-65, on Jan. 30 and in their most recent action, FDU posted a 69-50 win at Wagner on Feb. 7.
The Mountaineers lead the all-time series, 19-15, having edged Fairleigh Dickinson, 67-64, in Emmitsburg, MD on Dec. 10.
The Knights have shot a combined 43.9 percent from the field in the past week. Senior guard Krissy Suckow is averaging double-digit point totals, with 12.9 ppg, recording eight-straight games with 10 or more points. Sophomore forward Jennifer Walkling ripped down a career-high 19 boards at Wagner, and is averaging 6.3 rpg.
The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's basketball team (14-8, 11-2 NEC) looks to extend its' eight-game winning streak with a win against Mount St. Mary's (9-14, 7-5 NEC) at the Rothman Center on Saturday, February 11th at 7:30 p.m.
This is the 36th meeting between the two teams, with the Knights leading the all-time series, 22-13. In the most recent meeting between the two teams, the Knights defeated the Mount on its' homecourt in Emmitsburg, MD on Dec. 10, 71-68, despite the absence of their two leading scorers.
In the game, Andre Harris poured in a season-high 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to notch a double-double and lead the Knights.
NEC Two-time Player of the Week Chad Timberlake's 15.5 points per game leads Fairleigh Dickinson and ranks fifth in the conference. Gordon Klaiber is averaging 14.3 ppg and junior Andrea Crosariol is adding 10.7 ppg. Crosariol also leads the team with 6.2 rebounds per game and is first in the conference in both field goal percentage (62.8%) and blocks (2.86 bpg).
The Knights are 7-1 at home this season, including a perfect 6-0 in conference games on their own hardwood.
