Fairleigh Dickinson men's cross country freshman Darrel Gooding put together a day to remember by earning Northeast Conference Freshman of the Year after placing seventh at the NEC Championships with a time of 25:23.33 as FDU captured 11th place on Saturday.
 
The rookie from Somerset, N.J. is FDU's first top 10 finisher at the NEC Championships since freshman Samuel Chelanga won the event in 2006. By finishing in the top 14, Gooding, who turned in his second best 8k time of the season, was named to the All-NEC Cross Country Team.
