Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis standout Arvis Berzins collected his second Northeast Conference Player of the Month award this fall, the league announced Tuesday, Oct. 28.
The three-time NEC Player of the Year was on his game at the season-ending ITA Regional nearly two weekends ago. Berzins made a terrific run to the quarterfinals, advancing further than any other NEC player at the event. After receiving a first round bye, he beat Saint Francis U's Washi Gervais in three sets, then dispatched All-Ivy League player Chris Kipouras of Dartmouth in straight sets to advance to the round of 16. Berzins would reach the quarterfinals by beating Harvard's Kenny Tao, rallying from a set down to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. His run would come to an end against first team All-Ivy Leaguer Dragos Ignat of Columbia, who defeated Berzins, 6-4, 7-6 (4).
