Redshirt sophomore Rachel Hoekstra was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week and the BigAppleSoccer.com Player of the Week for the second straight week, as each accolade was announced on Monday, Oct. 6 and Tuesday, Oct. 7. She has now been named NEC Player of the Week three different times this season.
Hoekstra added to her season tally with a goal apiece in wins over Mount St. Mary's and LIU Brooklyn this past weekend and, in doing so, set the program record for most goals in a single season at 10.
Hoekstra doubled FDU's lead over Mount St. Mary's at the 30-minute mark with a tap-in from Carly Tice cross into the box in the Knights 3-0 road victory on Oct. 3. Two days later, in a thrilling come from behind victory over LIU Brooklyn, Hoekstra connected for a late game winner on a corner and placed it in the right side of the net in the 89th minute.

Previously, Hoekstra had scored nine during her 2012 Rookie of the Year, First Team All-Conference campaign. Hoekstra's goal against LIU on Sunday proved to be the game winner, her second of her season.
