Junior bowler Danielle McEwan is the 2012 FDU Dr. Harriet McCormick Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year. McEwan proved to be a pivotal member of one of the University’s most successful teams. Named Northeast Conference Player of the Week seven times during the season, including five-consecutive weeks at one stretch, McEwan led her team with an average of 210.92. She was named to the All-Tournament team at seven events: Bethune-Cookman, NJ Jamboree, Virginia Union Invitational, St. Francis NY New Years’ Knockdown Invitational, Kutztown Invitational, James Brown Invitational and the NEC Championships. The anchor of the squad, McEwan was the top bowler in the nation, earning First Team All-American honors to go along with being named the National Tenpins Coaches’ Association Division I Player of the Year. At the third NEC meet of the season, McEwan bowled a season-high 277. For the third straight season, she was named First Team All-NEC and for the second year in a row, NEC Bowler of the Year.
