Senior baseball player Ryan Kresky is the 2012 FDU Walter Marusyn Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year. The co-captain is one of the top players in the Northeast Conference as he is leading or is near the top in almost every statistical category. His play this year has been one of the major reasons for the drastic turnaround of the baseball program, leading them to a record of 23-23-1 (17-11 NEC) and a shot of making its first NEC Tournament since 1999, which was the last time an FDU baseball team won at least 20 games. The Knights slick-fielding shortstop is currently hitting .385 on the season, which leads the NEC, with five home runs and 36 RBIs. Entering play last week, Kresky led the nation in on-base percentage. Recently, he collected his 200th career hit, becoming the third player in FDU history to achieve at least 200 hits. Kresky currently sits in second place for most career hits in the program’s history. The co-captain has been named both NEC and NJCBA Player of the Week this season.
