TEANECK, N.J. - FDU Baseball (9-7, 5-1 NEC) topped the Marist Red Foxes (5-13, 5-1 MAAC) by a final score of 16-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. This win marks the Knights fourth in a row, moving their record to 6-1 in Teaneck in the 2026 campaign.
FDU jumped on the Red Foxes in the first inning, following a zero from Knights starter
Mason Hebert, the Knights got the offense started with a
Diego Urreta single through the right side, which scored
Johnathan Gomez and
Hunter Ray to make the score 2-0 FDU. Later in the inning,
Nick Quagliato scored
Garryn Plummer on an RBI single to extend the lead to three runs. The following batter
Brady Fandl drew a bases loaded RBI walk which pushed the FDU lead out to four, with the bases still loaded.
The following batter was
Travis Stroh, who launched his second home run of the season over the right field wall for a grand slam, which made the score 8-0 in favor of the burgundy and blue. Marist would add their lone run in the third inning on a solo home run off of Hebert, but the Knights answered right back with
Hunter Ray's sixth homer of the season, this one being a two run blast that pushed the Knights lead out to 10-1.
Jimmy Mantuano would also launch a ball over the wall in the same inning, also plating two runs in the process, and the Knights held a commanding 12-1 lead at the end of the first third of the ballgame.
FDU would tack on another run in the fourth inning by way of a
Garryn Plummer sacrifice fly. The Knights would once again score a run in the fifth as FDU capitalized on a Marist error to push the lead out to 14-1.
Brady Fandl would get involved in the scoring party, as he singled home two runs to score FDU's 15th and 16th runs in the ballgame.
FDU relievers
Jason DeMarco and
Jay Creighton closed the door on the Red Foxes, as the Knights won the ballgame at the conclusion of the top of the seventh inning, as the game was called due to mercy rule.
FDU will meet up with Saint Peter's tomorrow at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex, with first pitch set for 3 p.m. from Teaneck. The game will be streamed on NEC Front Row with Charlie Carbonetto on the call.
