TEANECK, N.J. – FDU (0-5-2, 0-0) closed out their non-conference schedule with a 2-2 draw against Saint Joseph's (3-4-1) at home on Sunday. It is the second straight draw for the Knights.
The Knights exploded out of the gate at University Stadium. In the 7
th minute,
Marina Burzaco redirected a pass from
Andrea Ougaard into the back of the net for the sophomore's first goal of the season. FDU led 1-0.
After the goal, the Knights continued to force the issue. This led to another scoring opportunity for Burzaco in the 24
th minute. This time it was
Elisa Garcia playing a pass to the forward. Burzaco took the pass and buried it for her second goal.
FDU outshot their opponent 9-2 in the first half and led 2-0 at the break.
St. Joe's equalized the match with goals in the 51
st and 57
th minutes.
Forced to regroup, the Knights found themselves again and created more scoring opportunities but were unable to find the winner. The game ended deadlocked at 2-2.
FDU outshot St. Joe's 20-5 in the match.
The Knights begin conference play at home on Thursday, September 18, against Delaware State. The match is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start and will air on NEC Front Row.
