Warren and Yang Win Women's Golf Major Awards; Three Knights Receive All-NEC Honors

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – The Northeast Conference released the 2024-25 women's golf all-conference teams and major awards on Monday afternoon. The NEC Champion FDU Knights took home two of the major awards and three players earned all-conference honors.

FDU head coach Rob Warren was named the NEC Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career. Warren guided the Knights back to the pinnacle of the NEC, capturing the program's tenth conference championship and the ninth under his leadership. The 2003 FDU graduate is the winningest coach in NEC women's golf history.

Freshman Michelle Yang was crowned the NEC Rookie of the Year. Yang is the eighth Knight to win this award. The Sydney, Australia native also landed on the All-NEC Second Team. Yang debuted in February and immediately cemented her spot in the FDU lineup. The freshman showed steady improvement before her coming out party at the Rutgers Invitational. Yang shot a 225 (+12) and finished T5. At the NEC Championship, Yang improved again. This time she helped the Knights claim the title by posting a 233 (+17) and finishing T4.

Graduate student Anete Adul wrapped up a stellar college career with a resilient campaign. Adul missed 2023-24 with an injury but bounced back and landed on the All-NEC Second Team this year. This is the third All-NEC honor of Adul's career. The Estonia native was the team leader at 77.3 strokes per round. Adul posted five top 20 finishes, including three consecutive top tens to end the year. At the Butler Invitational, Adul posted a 152 (+8) and finished third. In the NEC Championship, Adul fired a 232 (+16) and finished third again. She leaves FDU as a two-time conference champion.

Apichaya Chirakunakorn was right behind Adul at 77.9 strokes per round. Chirakunakorn displayed consistency as she collected six top-30 finishes, ending outside the top 30 in just two events. The senior saved her best performance for the NEC Championship. Chirakunakorn led the Knights in their pursuit of the crown and finished 2nd in the entire field. She did this by posting a 23- (+14).
Chirakunakorn birdied the final hole to clinch the title for the Knights.

The Knights are currently competing in an NCAA Regional at Keene Trace Golf in Lexington, Kentucky.
