Baseball Splits Saturday Doubleheader

TEANECK, N.J. - FDU baseball (13-35, 13-13) played a doubleheader on Saturday that featured Little League Day presented by the Greater Alliance Federal Credit Union. The partnership with District 6 Little League continued for the fourth straight season. The Knights dropped game one to Wagner (26-20, 19-7) before playing well in game two and winning 13-5.

Game 1

The visitors jumped out to a quick start, putting eight runs on the board in the first inning. Freshmen, Johnathan Gomez belted his first home run of the day and seventh of season to put FDU on the scoreboard. Junior Diego Urreta also homered in the sixth inning, his third on the season. Wagner would go on to win in seven innings 20-4.

Game 2

The script flipped in game two, as FDU was the one to jump out to an early lead. Urreta drove in the first run of the afternoon in the first inning. Freshman Hunter Ray blasted a grand slam in the second inning to open an eight run lead. It was a two home run day for Ray as he now has seven home runs on the season and is approaching a batting average of .300.

Ethan Rembish came on in relief and put up two scoreless innings as Wagner was trying to battle back. Rembish would get the win on the game while Ben Pika added his first save of the season. Pika threw three innings allowing only one run as he closed the door and the Knights moved back to .500 on the conference season.
