TEANECK, N.J. – The FDU Knights closed a three-game conference series against the Wagner Seahawks with a 13-3 seven-inning loss.
Prior to the game, the Knights celebrated senior day, honoring
Brian Yadlon,
Chris Mattioli,
Ben Pika, and
Stephen Proko. FDU also celebrated Mother's Day with ceremonial first pitches being thrown by the senior moms.
Cooper Montelbano got the start on the hill for the Knights going 3.2 innings and collecting three strikeouts before turning to the bullpen.
Ian Barrett,
Logan Magdits, and
Nick Noble made appearances totaling three strikeouts for the trio.
The Seahawks set the tone in the fourth inning with a six-run frame. The inning was powered by a double, two singles and a sacrifice fly to give them a 6-0 advantage.
Hunter Ray gave the Knights their first run of the day in the bottom of the fourth with a deep drive over the right field fence making the game 6-1.
Wagner added two more to the score in the top of the fifth with a two-run single to extend their lead 8-1.
The Knights plated two in the bottom half of the fifth off a defensive miscue by the Seahawks and contact off the bat of
Travis Stroh cutting the deficit 8-3.
However, Wagner responded with five runs over the course of the sixth and seventh innings to enact the seven-inning run rule and seal a 13-3 loss for FDU.

The Knights will travel to Siena on Tuesday, May 13 to take on the Saints for a midweek matchup. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
