BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – The Northeast Conference announced their weekly awards for the outdoor track and field season on Wednesday afternoon. FDU was represented by star athletes
Nilaja Wiltshire and
Ethan Ruffin, who collected several honors. Wiltshire picked up the NEC Field Athlete of the Week Award. Ruffin was named NEC Field Athlete of the Week as well as NEC Rookie of the Week.
It is the fourth time during the outdoor season that Wiltshire has been named NEC Field Athlete of the Week. Her honor comes following a great showing for FDU at the Penn Relays. Wiltshire competed in the women's shot put at the meet, placing seventh among all competitors with a distance of 15.06m.
Ruffin takes home both the Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week awards for the second time this season. He swept both awards back on April 9 following a strong showing at the Towson Twilight Meet. Ruffin picked up awards again following a stunning performance at the Penn Relays. The Knights freshman tied a personal best in the high jump with a height of 2.10m. His mark earned him third place among all competitors at the meet, awarding him the bronze medal.
Both Knights will look to keep their spectacular seasons rolling at the NEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, starting on Saturday, May 3.
