Red Flash Squeeze by Knights

HACKENSACK, N.J. – Saint Francis U (9-12, 3-0) defeated FDU (8-8, 1-2) in four competitive sets on Friday night. It completes the first of two matches between these teams in Hackensack this weekend.

The Knights were to pull out a 25-23 win in a defensive-heavy first set. Neither team hit above .100 and their front lines combined for six blocks. FDU trailed 19-14 but finished the set on an impressive 11-4 run to take the opening frame.

The Red Flash nearly led wire-to-wire in a 25-23 second set victory. They were able to hold off FDU, despite the Knights pulling to within two or closer on multiple occasions. SFU hit .400 to level the match.

The third set saw both teams hit above .300, with SFU converting over half of their attacks. The Knights capitalized off SFU's service errors and produced nine kills. In the end, the Red Flash edged out FDU 25-23.

The fourth set was just as tight. The teams were tied at 19-19, 20-20, 21-21 and 22-22 before the Red Flash finished the match with another 25-23 win.

Dylan McFadden led the Knights with 13 kills and Grady Hoffman recorded nine digs.
