TEANECK, N.J. – The FDU Knights (2-14, 2-1 NEC) took on the Monmouth Hawks (5-10, 0-0) in a midweek matchup that resulted in a 19-4 loss for the Knights.
The Hawks jumped on the board fast putting up a substantial lead in the first inning with eight runs. Monmouth was boosted by two homeruns in the first inning along with a three-RBI double and a single to give them an 8-0 edge over the Knights right away.
The Knights answered back with two runs to chip away at the deficit courtesy of a
Jimmy Mantuano double and an RBI single from
Diego Urreta to bring the score to 8-2.
Monmouth periodically tacked on runs throughout the duration of the game to total 19 runs by the end of the day.
FDU scored two more runs during the game from a fielder's choice off the bat of
Franklin Gomez Jr. who plated one and a solo homerun off the bat of
Hunter Ray.
Unfortunately, the Knights fell by a final score of 19-4.

The Knights will host a midweek game against the Hofstra Pride on Wednesday, March 12 at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex in Teaneck, N.J. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. and will be streamed on NEC Front Row.
