SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – In their second match of the weekend, FDU men's volleyball traveled to American Internation to take on the Yellow Jackets for their first road win of the season.
The Knights had a dominating first set, logging eight kills, six aces and one block to secure a 25-8 set victory. Senior
Panagiotis Kourmouzos tallied three of the eight kills, hitting a clean .600 hitting clip.
Set two saw a cooled down FDU squad, as the Burgundy and Blue racked up unforced errors. With nine attack errors and six service blunders, the Knights were unable to get any momentum. Hitting .103 as a team, FDU dropped set two 16-25.
Despite falling down 4-7 early in the third set, the Burgundy and Blue were able to rally back with help from two service errors by AIC and two kills from senior
Mihajlo Rodic. With the momentum, the Knights pushed ahead courtesy of a productive offense. Five more kills secured FDU a 25-23 set victory to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
Senior
Lorenzo Bonomo led the charge in set four, logging four of FDU's 11 kills. Two aces and three blocks helped propel the Knights to a 25-18 set and match victory.
FDU was led by Bonomo, who tied his career high with 14 kills on the day. Two aces, two blocks and four digs added to his 17-point match. Defensively, the Knights were led by senior
Jose Angarita, who logged eight digs and dished 23 assists.
FDU will be back in action on February 8, as the Knights return home to face No. 20 George Mason. First serve is set for 5 p.m. at the Bogota Savings Bank Center and will be streamed on NEC Front Row.
