LORETTO, PA. – FDU men's soccer (8-4-3, 4-1-1) dropped a 1-0 road contest to Saint Francis (6-7-1, 6-1) on Sunday afternoon.
The Knights fell behind early on in the action, as Saint Francis took a lead just two minutes and four seconds into the game. The early score was sent home by Red Flash freshman Harry Elmore, his first ever collegiate goal.
Elmore's score set the tone for the match, as the Red Flash were able to keep control of the lead through the remainder of regulation.
FDU kept up consistent pressure on the Saint Francis defense, peppering the net with shots. The Knights out-shot Saint Francis 21 to 3 in the loss, with 13 of the Knights' shots coming on goal.
Saint Francis goalkeeper Diego Garciarena had a stellar showing in net, completely neutralizing the Knights attack. He recorded a clean sheet with 13 saves.
With the loss, the Knights remain at second place in the NEC table with 13 points. Saint Francis clinched a playoff berth with the win, and remain ahead of the Knights in the table with 18 points on the season.
FDU returns home to Teaneck, N.J. on Thursday, October 30. The Knights will play host to Le Moyne at University Stadium. Kickoff will come at 4 p.m, with coverage available on NEC Front Row.
