PHILADELPHIA, Penn. - FDU fencing opened their season at the Nikki Franke Classic at the Liacouris Center in Philadelphia Saturday morning. 

The event opened with the Women's Foil section where 68 competitors took the to the strip. The Knights were led by freshman Sàra Szeverènyi who placed 33rd in the event after winning her first two matches. Genesis Pena and Gabriella Como finished right next to each other in the final standings, as Pena finished in 44th, and Como in 46th. 

The next event that took place was the Women's Èpèe section. Freshman Isabel You marked the highest finish of any Knight, as she finished in 32nd place in the section. Junior Sherleen Yunes finished the event in 50th place with freshman Lauren Colella finishing close behind in 57th. Jade Burnett made her sophomore season debut for the Knights and finished the section in 71st. 

The final event of the Temple Invite was the Women's Saber section, where just two Knights took to the strip, both of which making their college debut. Carmen Bolt-Turner and Meya Colin were the two Knights that competed for FDU, Bolt-Turner opened her collegiate career with a tie for 54th place finish, and Colin ended the event not far behind her teammate in 60th. 

The Knights will next compete at the Vassar Invitational on November 9th. Action from Walker Field House will begin at 7 a.m.
