BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – FDU thrower Nilaja Wiltshire continues to make headlines in Hackensack. The sophomore was named the NEC Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. It is the fourth time Wiltshire has been given the honor in the 2024-25 indoor season.
Wiltshire has received the award following every single meet she has participated in during the season. This week's award came after a historic performance out of Wiltshire in the Dr. Sander Scorcher.
The Phillipsburg, N.J. native shattered an FDU record on day two of the meet. Wiltshire threw for a distance of 15.19m in the shot put. That mark not only was a personal best for Wiltshire, but was the best mark in FDU indoor program history.
Wiltshire's record on day two followed up another impressive showing for her in the weight throw on day one. The Knights' star set another personal best in the weight throw, placing second with a distance of 16.65m.
For her efforts, Wiltshire was also named an NEC Prime Performer by the conference. Joining Wiltshire on the prime performer list was Tata Coulibaly, who had an impressive weekend both throwing, and competing in the 200m.
Wiltshire, Coulibaly, and the Knights will continue their season on Friday, January 31, when they compete in the METS in Staten Island, N.Y.
