ERIE, PA – FDU women's basketball (12-3, 2-0) continues a Pennsylvania road trip Saturday afternoon when they face the Mercyhurst Lakers (4-10, 1-2). Tip-off will be at 1:00 p.m. with coverage available on NEC Front Row.
The Knights and Lakers will be facing off against each othet for the first time in either program's history. Mercyhurst enters this season as the newest addition to both the Northeast Conference and NCAA Division I.
FDU enters the match-up coming off of a road win in Loretto, PA over Saint Francis on Thursday, January 9. The Knights defeated the Red Flash 63-55 behind an impressive 22-point showing out of
Teneisia Brown. Brown continued what has been a dominant season thus far for the Knights, as she leads the team in scoring with 13.9 PPG. Brown's scoring total also ranks fourth amongst all Northeast Conference members.
Brown has also been a dominant force on the boards for the Knights, pulling in 9.6 RPG to lead both the team and the conference. The Montego Bay, Jamaica native has also recorded five double-doubles on the season so far.
On the other side, the Knights will be tasked with defending the best scorer in the Northeast Conference. Lakers forward Bailey Kuhns ranks atop all player in the NEC with 19.4 PPG on an efficient 48% shooting mark. Kuhns is a threat to score at all three levels, and has recorded at least 20 points in eight of her 14 games this season.
The Lakers are coming off of their first ever win over a Division I program on Thursday, defeating Le Moyne by a score of 63-52.
