Wiltshire Breaks FDU Shot Put Record as Track Participates in NSU Invitational

NORFOLK, VA. – FDU men's and women's track and field headed to Norfolk State to participate in the NSU Invitation this past weekend. It was a successful showing for the Knights, who saw numerous personal and season bests. Freshman thrower Nilaja Wiltshire had an outstanding showing as she set a personal best in the shot put that was good enough for the FDU outdoor record.
 
-Freshman Xavier Hayletts placed sixth in the men's 100m with a time of 10.97
-Freshman Anthony Massari finished thirteenth in the men's 400m with a time of 52.09
-Freshman Khalia Boyce placed tenth in the women's 400 with a personal best time of 1:02.92
-Junior Meghan Porter ran a personal best time of 1:14.04 in the 400m hurdles, placing sixth
-Freshman Brandon Barreto ran in the men's 800m and 1500m races, running a season best time of 1:58.57 in the 800 and a personal best time of 4:06.64 in the 1500
-Freshman Trevor Ehrlicher also participated in the 800m, finished sixth with a season best time of 2:04.03
-Ehrlicher also ran in the men's 3000m steeple, finishing third with a personal best 10:03.44
-Senior Ahmed Brown had a season best throw of 37.31 in the discus for a tenth-place finish
-Freshman Darien Cade threw a personal best 50.80m in the javelin for a second-place finish
-Sophomore Ella Johnson placed second in the women's javelin with a mark of 32.19m
-Freshmen Jashad Kersey, Zander Romero and Christian Mercado all participated in the men's long jump, placing tenth, eleventh and thirteenth
-Senior Marie Etong Ntonga placed eighth in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.00m
-Ahmed Brown won the men's shot put with a strong throw of 14.91m
-Freshman Nilaja Wiltshire threw a personal best 15.33m to take first in women's shot put and break the FDU outdoor record which was previously held by her mother Njeri Curtis
-Jashad Kersey and Myles Taylor placed third and fourth in the men's triple jump with marks of 13.68m and 13.50m
-Marie Etong Ntonga placed second in the triple jump with a season best mark of 11.95m
-The men's 4x100 relay of Daniel Chambers, Xavier Hayletts, Julian Jamison and Anthony Massari placed third with a time of 43.33
-The men's 4x400m relay of Duane Kizer, Anthony Massari, Tele Abe and Brandon Barreto placed third with a season best time of 3:32.43
 
The Knights look ahead to the Middlesex Invitational, traveling to Piscataway on April 13.
